WHO WE support

We want to help others, together with you…

It has always been a deeply rooted value for us to actively support charitable organisations, not only within our local community and across the UK, but also on an international scale. As an integral part of our ongoing commitment, we are dedicated to allocating a percentage of our sales throughout the year to various deserving causes, ensuring our contributions make a meaningful impact far and wide.

Project Waterfall

#FACT - Access to clean water changes everything. Child mortality rates drop. Girls can spend more time in school. Women can start their own businesses. And dignity is restored to communities

Lars & Margo are a proud supporter of Project Waterfall, a charity helping to bring clean drinking water to many.

From the 1st March 2024, we have pledged to donate 10% from every bag of supporting coffees we sell to help bring an end to the water crisis in coffee-growing communities.

Join with us in making a difference as we offer an ever-changing supporting coffee for you to enjoy. Keep an eye on our website and socials for the supporting coffee of the moment.

Cancer Research UK

#FACT - Over the last 40 years, cancer survival rates in the UK have doubled. In the 1970s just 1 in 4 people survived their disease for 10 years or more. Today 2 in 4 survive. Cancer Research UK want to accelerate progress and see 3 in 4 patients surviving the disease by 2034.

Our customers were part of this mission, doing something wonderful and helping us raise funds for Cancer Research UK. Our fundraiser label particularly drew attention to breast cancer awareness, which affects women and men alike.

With your support this year we were able to donate £100.21 to Cancer Research UK through Work For Good from sales of our #00B during February to April.

THANK YOU!

Working to Bring Clean Water to Coffee-Growing Communities

Together with your help we’re now supporting Project Waterfall – a charity working to end the water crisis in our lifetime, bringing clean water, sanitation and education to coffee-growing communities across the world.

Lars & Margo have pledged to donate 10% from every ‘supporting’ bag we sell, helping to bring an end to the water crisis in our lifetime.

Today, 785 million people around the world don’t have access to clean water. The majority live in isolated, rural areas - the same areas growing our coffee. While we enjoy the purest filtered water in our coffee, the communities at the end of its supply chain face a water crisis.

Project Waterfall brings clean water, sanitation and education to coffee-growing communities across the world. Regardless of where a community is, or how big it is, Project Waterfall’s aim is to implement tangible and sustainable solutions that create access to water and improve the quality of it. Since 2011, they’ve raised over £1.5million and changed more than 70,000 lives in Nicaragua, Tanzania, Rwanda, Vietnam, Uganda, Kenya and Ethiopia.

***FUNDRAISER NOW CLOSED***

Cancer Research UK for Breast Cancer Awareness

With 1 in 2 of us developing cancer within our lifetime Lars & Margo are launching a return to one of our Brazilian coffees that many were introduced to at the start of our journey - now with 11% of funds from each bag of coffee sold making its way (through Work for Good) to Cancer Research UK.

Many of us have known of loved ones cured, currently fighting or sadly having lost their fight to cancer and though already a huge charity, we very much feel a strong need to support CRUK.

Why use the #00B Brazilian coffee as the fundraiser?

“We looked at our coffees and saw a connection with #00B and its link to the spelling of BOOB. Simply that. With both men and women affected by breast cancer we saw an instant connection to use this with the marketing for the coffee label, though of cause the funds will go to CRUK for them to distribute accordingly for any cancer research.”

A big shout out to our man on graphics design Nick Dellano - who kindly and generously donated his time to help with designing the label on this fundraiser. With the addition of the pink ribbon and font we hope our customers will be drawn towards a coffee that not only tastes great but gives back to!

“In advance - we thank you for your support,

...and send those of you fighting cancer at this time our love, our energy and very best wishes, L&M xx”

How you help us make a difference

We all desire to do good and help others. One of the founding principles of Lars & Margo is to make a difference, to try and improve people’s lives. We have selected two wonderful charities to support, one UK-based but with world-impacting potential thanks to its cutting-edge research. The other focussed entirely on helping the communities that are the foundation upon which your wonderful aromatic, flavoursome cup of coffee is built. Communities that so desperately need our help.

  • Every day, women and young girls spend up to 8 hours collecting water that weighs, on average, 20 kilos. This can lead to spinal and pelvic deformities, miscarriages and chronic fatigue, and prevents girls from attending school.

  • 1.6 million people die every year from water-related diseases, with children affected the most.

Clean water changes this, as does education around good hygiene.

  • There are some similarities between male breast cancer and female breast cancer. But there are also important differences between the 2. The most common type of breast cancer in both women and men is called invasive breast cancer - No Special Type (NST). You may also hear it called invasive ductal carcinoma NST.

  • Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in the UK, but survival over the last 40 years has nearly doubled. Today, 8 in 10 women diagnosed with breast cancer will survive their disease for 10 years or more.

We aim to introduce speciality coffee to a broader audience in a responsible and sustainable manner. By working closely with our farmers, we can guarantee fair compensation for their coffee beans.
